They come from many different backgrounds and cultures and suffer many different conditions including learning difficulties, physical or mental disabilities, emotional challenges and those with acute, chronic or life limiting illnesses. They also help young people who have been abused or neglected, witnesses domestic violence, been bereaved or act as carers for a parent or a sibling. In September we made a grant so that children could enjoy the wonder of the theatre.<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-ast-global-color-8-color\"> Ryan Sinclair, Chief Executive<\/mark> of Happy Days takes up the story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.happydayscharity.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/parrycharity.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/sleeping-beauty.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2446\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1;width:221px;height:auto\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong><em><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-ast-global-color-4-color\"> &#8230;. joy of a live show<\/mark><\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;<strong><em>115 children from Burgess Hill and surrounding areas aged 11 to 18 who have social, emotional and mental health needs and other medical conditions watched a show called &#8220;Sleeping Beauty&#8221; performed by a visiting theatre group. Our young people benefited hugely from having a visiting performance which for many was a first as they are unable to go on trips because of anxiety, transport, cost or other specific needs<\/em>. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"435\" height=\"602\" src=\"https:\/\/parrycharity.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/thank-you.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2445\" style=\"aspect-ratio:0.7225913621262459;width:219px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/parrycharity.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/thank-you.png 435w, https:\/\/parrycharity.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/thank-you-217x300.png 217w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 435px) 100vw, 435px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Performing arts students were able to use this experience in their drama lessons to create their own pantomine. Others were helped with their Arts Award qualification. This event created a buzz among the young people who continue to talk about the panto with anybody who will listen. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>These opportunities help with sensory awareness and improve social and communication skills. Let&#8217;s not forget the fun and excitement.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Charities such as Happy Days provide a great service and often go under the radar. Broadening challenged young people&#8217;s life experiences helps with personal development but also brings great joy.
