For the third year running we were very pleased to be able to support Love Marlborough Kids Meals at Christmas. This is a local charity helping a growing number of families that are struggling to make ends meet. Ensuring that they can enjoy a delicious Christmas dinner with some extra treats is indicative of what they provide every week.
Here is what Anna Olsen from Love Marlborough Kids Meal’s told us about Christmas 2024.
“Kids Meals is now in its fifth year having started during lockdown. Our mission is to provide a hot family meal for families in need in the Marlborough area, including outlying villages. We currently send out around 50 family meals, every Friday afternoon. Sadly, the numbers of families relying on our meals continues to increase.

For a second year, the donations received before Christmas enabled us to send some special Christmas treats out to families.

This year our cooks produced a delicious recipe for chocolate tiffin as a special treat, and we provided all the ingredients and a tray to assemble. We heard back from our families – the kids thought they were delicious! As well as these, we provided some basic groceries and the ingredients for a post-Christmas curry too.
The cost-of-living pressures have impacted many members of our local community. This includes families with working parents, challenging health issues or other personal circumstances, or sudden and unexpected changes making things difficult. Families can stay with us as long as needed- we check in with them from time to time to make sure they are ok and we are still needed. Families come and go, and we have found that as one family leaves our list another joins”.
It is concerning that the number of families in need of Love Marlborough Kids Meal’s help continues to rise but very heartening to know that so many volunteers are willing to work together to help these families through such difficult times. We at the Foundation are delighted that we can continue our support and wish them all best wishes for the future.
